Earlier, I was working with TATA Steel. One day, I went to my senior for official work who was sitting in an upstairs cabin. As usual, I knocked on the door, went inside, and started discussing the work which I had to discuss with him. After finishing a work-related discussion, he asked me, "What are you doing today, anything special other than your education?" I said, "Nothing special." Then he said, "Listen, I am going to retire in six months and this company is also shifting to Tarapur from Borivali and I will not be there, and I think you should change your JOB right now before this shift happens." I said, "How?" He said, "Wait, my son was asking, they are looking for someone like you in their newly established company. I will ask him to give you X amount of salary. You go there for the interview." Then he said, "What day is tomorrow?" I said, "Saturday." "This is a good day, don’t wait for any other day, go tomorrow only. I will ask my son about this." Then, I left his cabin and came down to my workplace.
That day, I came home with mixed feelings because my current workplace was near to my house and I was getting a better salary. When I told my wife, she said, "Don’t wait for Monday, go tomorrow and give the interview, and Saturday is a good day," as my senior said.
The next morning, I woke up early, took a bath, had some breakfast, put on a formal dress, caught BEST, and started traveling to the interview place, Bandra. I caught the local train to reach Bandra. With the help of the given address, I reached my interview around 10 am.
When I entered the office, I saw, in one cabin + big open office, all people were working on computers in silence mode. I asked for Rahul and someone met me with him. Then he introduced me to his friend and founder of the company Mr. Rushabh. Pointing at me, Rahul said, "He is the person who came for the Admin interview." After that, Rushabhji and I sat in the corner seat for the interview. In the beginning, he asked me, "Would you like to work on the computer and write emails?" (Aapko computer pe kam karna acha lagega. Khali email likhna hai). I said, "Yes." He said, "Great then done." After that, he asked me, "How much salary do you expect?" I said, "What can you offer?" He said, "10k." I said, "Okay." Then, I asked for the offer letter. They printed one and gave it to me and said, "Thank you," and left for home. While returning home I was really happy and very eager to join the new team.
When I reached home and told my wife I had been selected, she became happier than me and she said, " I told you, Saturday is a good day for us." On Monday at 10 am, I joined my new workplace ‘WebNotes’ now known as ‘FRAPPE.’
While working here I learned a lot from my colleagues, performed multiple roles in the company and now I am heading Accounts, Finance, Admin, and Secretary with the title of Co-founder. Also,I got a chance to open a new section 8 company as ERPNext Foundation and work as Director. Currently, this company is known as FOSS Foundation.
